Los Alamos Little League: Sportsmanship, Respect, and Our Shared Responsibility
Dear Los Alamos Little League Families, Coaches, Players, and Fans,
As we move through the season, the Los Alamos Little League Board would like to take a moment to reinforce the values that define our league and community: sportsmanship, respect, and personal responsibility.
At Los Alamos Little League (LALL), we are committed to creating an environment where every player can learn, grow, and enjoy the game. The experience our players have is shaped not only by what happens on the field; but by the behavior of everyone around them.
We all play a role in setting that standard.
Parents & Fans: Setting the Tone
Our players are always watching—and learning from you.
We ask all parents and spectators to:
Model respectful behavior toward players, coaches, umpires, and other families
Cheer positively and support all players on the field
Refrain from coaching from the stands or criticizing calls
Maintain composure and use appropriate language at all times
Your support helps create a positive, confidence-building experience for every child.
Coaches & League Officials: Leading by Example
Coaches and officials serve as leaders in our league and community.
We expect you to:
Demonstrate professionalism, respect, and composure in all situations
Reinforce sportsmanship, teamwork, and accountability
Address concerns through appropriate league channels
Prioritize player development, safety, and enjoyment
Your leadership sets the standard for players, families, and fans alike.
Players: Representing Your Team and Community
To our players—you are the heart of Los Alamos Little League.
We ask that you:
Show respect to teammates, opponents, coaches, and umpires
Play hard, play fair, and give your best effort
Support your teammates and demonstrate good sportsmanship
Keep a positive attitude, regardless of the outcome
How you play the game matters just as much as the score.
When You See Something: Step Up the Right Way
Maintaining a positive environment is a shared responsibility.
If you witness behavior that does not reflect our standards:
Do not escalate the situation
Notify a coach, board member, or league official
Support a calm and respectful resolution
We are all responsible for protecting the integrity of the game and the experience of our players.
Handling Disputes with Umpires (Please Read Carefully)
We understand that calls may not always go your way. However, how we respond is critical.
Only coaches or managers may address an umpire
Conversations must be respectful and occur at appropriate times (not during live play)
Judgment calls (balls/strikes, safe/out) are not open for debate
Once a decision is made, it is final
It is also important to remember that many of our umpires are youth or community volunteers. They are learning, just like our players, and deserve patience, encouragement, and respect.
Disrespectful behavior toward umpires will not be tolerated.
Our Commitment as a League
Los Alamos Little League is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for all participants.
Unsportsmanlike conduct—including disrespect, harassment, or inappropriate behavior—may result in removal from the field or further action as determined by the Board.
Be Part of the Solution
The LALL Board is committed to listening, learning, and continuously improving the league experience.
If you have concerns, we want to hear from you.
And if you are passionate about making the league better, we encourage you to step in and get involved.
This league runs on volunteers, and your involvement makes a meaningful difference for our players and community.
Thank you for helping us make Los Alamos Little League a place where kids can thrive—on and off the field.
Sincerely,
Los Alamos Little League Board
